A very promising government scheme, providing big incentives to the filming industry, attracted the attention of famous Hollywood actor, Nicolas Cage, who chose the island for his upcoming science fiction film called Jiu Jitsu.

The infrastructure of Cyprus provided the perfect setting with a selection of varied locations from the capital Nicosia, to cosmopolitan Limassol and the Pafos region for its rugged natural surroundings.  This €24.6m science fiction and martial arts film, directed by Dimitri Logothetis and Martin Barab, as of this June will act as the launching pad, placing Cyprus on the map as a filming destination.
