Greece and Cyprus comeback

stay-safe-covid-19

Everyone is eager for their ‘freedom’ again and to start travelling the world.  The coronavirus pandemic changed to its core the travel sector, soon to gradually begin under a totally new norm.  At first destination choices will solely depend on the safety factor and on how promptly and well each country dealt with the virus.

During these unprecedented times Greece emerged as a leader, among the EU members, in its methods, promptness and well thought plan in reducing to the minimum the fatalities and successfully controlling the spread.  This enabled the country to re-start slowly but steadily in opening, lifting restrictions and preparing hopefully in receiving tourism this summer.  There is now free movement throughout the mainland and by 25 May to all the Greek islands, always with specific cautionary measures for a safe comeback.   Archaeological sites have just re-opened, controlling the number of visitors but museums will start accepting visitors by mid-June, with strict rules of safe distancing. By end of this month restaurants, cafes and bars will restart serving the public outdoors and hotels are due to accept guests in June.  Also, by end of May the country will receive international flights from more destinations if all runs smoothly.  Of course, all depending in similar positive results among the other countries and most importantly on the lifting of the official quarantine regulation when traveling to another country.

Similarly, Cyprus immediately reacted and took serious steps in containing the virus by abiding by strict scientific directives, resulting in a successful plan that now enables the island to steadily follow through various opening up phases.   In a few days, all movement restrictions will be lifted and gradually restaurants are re-opening outdoors as well as other public places.  Then, as of mid-June, hotels will be ready to receive guests, the airports will operate again by gradually adding international flights, shopping malls, organized beaches, and ports will also reopen.

At OM we are adapting our rules and regulations to comply with the new travel norms and will be ready, when the time comes, to continue serving you with the same dedication, energy, and creativity.  Till we meet again keep safe, keep healthy.
