Tazza, an all in one bar- wine- restaurant, is one of the most quirky colourful places, right in the buzzing centre of Athens and it’s my absolute favourite. Amazingly so crowds, even during winter, sit outdoors under heaters snuggling with blankets while enjoying a cup of coffee, sipping a GT or a crisp chardonnay with a décor reminiscent of a French boudoir. The Clumsies, another much talked about bar just further along, with its creative mixologist team, managed to be included as one of the top 50 bars in the world. An adventure for the taste buds, with an annual featured menu labelled Past, Present and Future, always with a Greek twist and seasonal ingredients differentiates this bar from all others. How about a cocktail named ‘Unknown Pleasures’ with Clumsie’s ground and roasted carob, mimicking coffee beans, and then artfully blended with cognac, elderflower, apricot, cocoa, tonka beans, orange peel and a topping of tonic; and the list goes on.
