Endless Island Summers

omodos-village-summer

It might sound cliché but every year our island seems to stretch more and more it’s summers.

Cyprus manages to escape from the cycle of seasons, ignoring the rest of the world. The island never feels isolated or less vibrant throughout the off-peak months, which we can’t really call winter months. It’s pure bliss when you can enjoy a little bit of more sun, more blue skies, more clear starry nights stretching all the way to Christmas without realizing it one bit. No wonder there is always an abundance of succulent fruits and vegetables, a real treat for creative local Chefs and proud wine producers alike. To claim that you experienced the island to its fullest you must first slow down, siga siga, as nobody is really in a hurry. This on its own brings a sense of euphoria and absolute relaxation since everything becomes a ritual, such as feasting at a modest taverna, sipping wine by a remote quaint winery, enjoying a cold frappe coffee or just strolling around. All forms of celebration are deeply rooted in the island’s traditions, be that its someone’s name day, a national holiday or even a wine festival event. The abundance of ancient monuments, scattered at every corner, indicates the strategic importance and long colourful history which influenced Cyprus in diverse ways and formed its unique identity.
