New openings attract me like a magnet and especially when it relates to wine, so couldn’t resist an open day invite on a sunny Sunday.

It was intriguing to visit this hip winery, dominating a hilltop of the most traditional village, Omodos, synonymous with a long history of winemaking and famous as a viticulture destination. A three-storey stone covered modern structure with vast terraces, serving as breath-taking viewpoints of the village, mountain slopes and endless vineyards, the envious lower floor state of the art cellars showcasing a trendy winery, all lend itself for imaginative oenophile events. The surrounding grounds, meticulously planted with indigenous plants and colourful flowers, compliment the whole grandeur of Oenou Yi, meaning the land of wine.
